The Gies Brand - Business on Purpose
Our Brand
Our brand is the essence of who we are. It tells the world what we believe in, and it guides our direction in everything we do as a College. Familiarize yourself with our “Business on Purpose” brand story. And learn how to discuss it in everyday interactions with learners, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends.
Our Purpose
Gies Business shapes purposeful leaders through life-changing access to education, research, and innovation. See our Commitments and Beliefs.
Our Story
We know business is more than just business, so we prepare learners to approach it differently.
We design everything with intention. The courses our learners take, the events they attend, the projects they complete – it’s all created with careful thought and collaboration.
We don’t innovate just to innovate. We do it “on purpose.”
We take intentional steps to ensure that the experience our learners gain is the experience they need to succeed as purpose-driven leaders and collaborators well beyond their years at Gies Business. And we are committed to extending life-changing access to that experience to as many learners as possible from different backgrounds and different stages of life.
Here, you learn to think differently about business, approaching it with the goal of making a difference – on big and small scales.
We strive to make sure the mindset of intentionality doesn’t end here. We want our learners to take that same focus on purpose to their careers, find a path that aligns with their passions, think about the impact they can make, and then pursue that path.
They’ll know it’s not about doing business just to do business. It’s about doing business with intention.
And that’s business on purpose.
Our Name
We are proud and honored to use the Gies name for our College. Anything with Gies College of Business on it is a representation not only of the College but of Larry and Beth Gies. The Gies Business name must always be used respectfully and in alignment with our brand standards.
When shortening Gies College of Business, please shorten to Gies Business. There is no "the" in front of Gies College of Business.
Our Guidelines
As a brand, having a consistent look, feel, and set of messages is essential to creating a consistent brand experience and reinforcing our purpose.
These guidelines also keep us aligned with the campus branding guidelines, and they're what we'll follow as we evaluate the project briefs you submit. These may evolve. MarCom will help to ensure that you're aligned with current protocols and expectations.
Along with our brand style guide, we also have a writing guide to help us be consistent in our messaging.
This guide can help you understand our style. Do not copy images, logos, or watermarks from this guide. Instead, please reach out to MarCom for any files, images, or requests.
