Merchandise
Gies-branded merchandise items are also marketing materials. These should be used strategically and primarily for external audiences to gain maximum effectiveness. Because each piece carries the College wordmark, MarCom must approve the product, the color, and the quality of any merchandise item. This helps ensure that each piece reinforces the level of excellence the College represents.
Wordmark & Merchandise
Use of the Block I and the Gies College of Business wordmark requires approval of MarCom and may also require approval from the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics. Note that no items can be produced that use the Block I without the College name. All items must include the College wordmark and the trademark symbol. MarCom will obtain all necessary approvals, and we will work with approved vendors on merchandise.
Note: Any items sold above the cost of the production (even as a fundraiser) will incur royalty costs.
Department/degree program names will not appear on merchandise unless it is an approved program that is open to non-Gies students or a special request is approved by MarCom. When approved, the wordmark must appear on the item, and the unit name must be included in a separate location. They cannot be locked up together.
The trademark symbol must always be present and readable on merchandise, or in some instances the merchandise packaging.
Wordmark Placement on Merchandise
All items must have the College wordmark on them as well as the trademark symbol.
