Skype for Business
Skype for Business will function as expected on your university computer from a remote location, as long as the internet connection is stable and high-capacity. You will need some sort of microphone and speakers. This can be your phone headset, smartphone headphones (with in-line mic), or a USB phone/speakerphone.
Skype for Business is available for mobile phones on both iOS and Android.
Skype for Business FAQs
How do I make Skype for Business ring my cell phone?
If your internet connection isn’t reliable, we suggest that you set your Skype for Business calls to ring simultaneously on your mobile phone so that you can use your mobile phone to connect to the Skype calls.
I've heard Skype for Business is going away. Is that true?
Microsoft has announced that Skype for Business will cease to be a supported product. Our campus has invested to ensure that Skype for Business will continue serving as our phone system through at least 2024. However, there are now other available products (like Zoom and Microsoft Teams) that function better than Skype for Business for functions other than external calling.
