ISOI Distinguished Speaker: Mary Ann Glynn

The Illinois Strategic Organizations Initiative Distinguished Speaker Series will feature Mary Ann Glynn. She will continue our series on Past, Present, and Future Research and Practice on Strategic Organizations. Professor Glynn was an associate of the Department of Sociology at Harvard University for the 2021-22 academic year. She is recently retired as the Joseph F. Cotter Professor, Management & Organizations, at Boston College, and previously served on the faculties of Yale and Michigan. She has published widely in organizational journals on identity, institutions, and culture. She recently co-authored Cultural Entrepreneurship: A New Agenda for the Study of Entrepreneurial Identity and Institutions. Her current research projects a historical study of the cultural coding of luxury in U.S. hotels; an intellectual history of institutional theory; and an analysis of the role of social media in Boston’s response to the 2013 Marathon bombings.
